Going, going…gone are the days of everyone else’s needs before my own! What? Well from my own experiences and more recent revelations I have figured, ummm maybe a little late in the day, that when we start to honour ourselves – goodness gracious – our family, the universe, in fact everyone, starts to honour us. Yippee! Win, win.
Me Time equals honour thyself!
Back in the ‘olden days’, putting your own needs first was downright BAD and words such as selfish and greedy were bandied about and used to describe such folk. Now I’m not saying abandon all here folks – leaving the baby unattended, kids fending for themselves at dinnertime and the dog to walk itself (woof?), completely living for yourself here peeps. No siree. It’s just that the more I give/honour myself naturally I will fill up my own wellness tank and the more energy I have for others. The long list of bonus effects include a relaxed mum – ahhh, the joy of it – a clear head for focus, a balanced mind/body perspective/attitude.
Check this: as I resonate out my good vibes to those around me at home (‘lucky them’ including the dog), my family benefit from a loving mother, daughter, sister and my community get the best of me. Then there’s the country as a whole, umm did I mention the world? Heck let’s take my good vibes to the universe and make some real change Wow, amazing what can happen when mum takes a long “Me Time’ soak in the bath, preferably with some Epsom salts (check out the amazing effects of Epsom salt baths at bottom of page).
My Me Time effects
Rest, growth, ease, happiness, self-realisation, intuition, light, love, letting go, balance of mind, dreamtime, clarity, self-love, goal-setting time….oh yes folks, the stuff of dreams.
My Me Time activities include – as if you needed help thinking up some of your own 🙂
Long soaks in the bath, walking the dog because I like it, massage therapy (I have to practise what I preach here, folks :-)), lying down and reading a book…in the middle of the day…when there are chores to do. Oh the shame of it! NOPE, Me Time is important! More than that, it’s critical to my success as a human being and as a contributor to this here universe.
The time is right, the time is NOW. Bring on some Me Time. Honour thyself.
Epsom salt baths
Epsom salts (magnesium sulphate) help to release toxicity in the body. Magnesium and sulphur are among the most alkalising earth minerals and once toxins are drawn out we feel de-stressed and relaxed. They are anti-inflammatory and help with anything from soothing sunburn to bee stings. An added bonus is it leaves your skin feeling softer and smoother.
For a blissful soak in the bath simply add 2 cups of Epsom salts to your bath water, get in and relax. It is easily acquired at the pharmacy or supermarket. You can add your favourite essential oils to make it smell good too. Enjoy!
